THIS movie is allegedly based on one of the cases handled by real-life paranormal investigators, the husband-and-wife team of Ed and Lorraine Warren. In 1971, Carolyn (Lili Taylor) and Roger Perron (Ron Livingston) move into a dilapidated Rhode Island farmhouse with their five daughters – Andrea (Shanley Coswell), Nancy (Hayley McFarland), Christine (Joey King), Cindy (McKenzie Foy), and April (Kyla Deaver).
Soon, strange things start happening, which quickly escalate into a nightmarish terror. In desperation, Carolyn contacts the Warrens (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) to examine the house.

What the Warrens discover is a whole area steeped in a demonic haunting that is now targeting the Perron family. To stop this evil, the Warrens will have to defeat the spectral menace at its source, using all their skills and spiritual strength.

Despite the trailer’s claims that this horror flick will tell a story that has never been told before, the plot actually offers nothing new and, in fact, reminds me a lot of The Amityville Horror (a famous case by the Warrens which had been made into countless films).

The execution of the film is done very well and the cast is absolutely fantastic to watch. Most of the time you are not shown the entities but the haunting of the Perron family is incredibly creepy to watch and the suspense, just incredible.

The dialogue is witty and the scenes played out so smoothly that you won’t feel the length of the film – 112 minutes long.

The acting deserves applause as everyone, from the leads to the cast of the Perron family and Warrens’ helpers, Drew (Shannon Kook) and Brad (John Brotherton), did very well.

Overall, The Conjuring is a fun yet scary film. Its presentation and the great chemistry between cast members are definitely worth your time and money. Highly recommended for all.
